Abstract

This article examines the interpretation of the Qur’an in the context of the digital world by identifying the challenges and opportunities that arise due to digital transformation. Interpretation in the digital world offers novelty in the form of more visual, interactive, and inclusive presentations, so that it can reach the younger generation and the general public. However, this phenomenon also presents serious challenges related to the validity of sources, decentralized religious authorities, and low digital literacy among some users. This research aims to present a critical analysis of the paradigm shift from traditional interpretation to digital interpretation, as well as to outline the contribution of information and communication technology to contemporary Islamic studies. Through a descriptive qualitative approach with case studies on mobile applications and online platforms, this study defines the limitations of the study on digital transformation that affects the interpretation methodology. With reference to hermeneutic theory and digital humanities, this article presents relevant theoretical and empirical discourses to provide new perspectives for academic audiences in interpretive studies. This study concludes that digital adaptation is a must for the study of contemporary interpretation, while still prioritizing methodological accuracy and integration between classical traditions and modern technology. The results of the study also emphasized the importance of maintaining standardization and authenticity of interpretation in digital media to prevent misinterpretation.
