Abstract

Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED) in adolescent girls remains a nutritional problem that impacts long-term health. Low nutritional knowledge is one of the factors that play a role in the occurrence of CED. This activity aims to determine the effectiveness of nutrition education interventions in improving adolescent girls' knowledge regarding CED prevention in RW 05, Bira Village, Makassar City. The intervention used a pre- experimental one-group pretest–posttest design on 40 adolescent girls with a participatory education method through the Clash of KEK Fighters game and the interactive poster "Recognize & Prevent CED". The level of knowledge was measured before and after the intervention and analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed that before the intervention, most respondents were in the category of insufficient and sufficient knowledge, while after the intervention, all respondents (100%) were in the category of good knowledge. The significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p=0.000) indicates that nutrition education had a meaningful effect in improving adolescent girls’ knowledge regarding chronic energy deficiency (CED). The indicators measured included changes in knowledge categories (poor, moderate, good) before and after the intervention, reflecting improved understanding of the concepts, causes, and prevention of CED. The interactive nutrition education intervention was proven effective in improving adolescent girls' knowledge regarding CED prevention.
