This study examines the local wisdom of the Kalabbirang village community regarding the use of medicinal plants that have been passed down through generations to treat various diseases, including hypertension. Through interviews and observations, it was found that the community uses 36 types of medicinal plants from 22 families such as African leaves, cherry leaves, soursop leaves, and starfruit leaves, turmeric, ginger, nutmeg and others which are believed to have effects on treating diseases such as fever, aches, lowering blood pressure, and other diseases. The results of scientific research support that extracts and decoctions of these leaves have the potential to treat a disease. These plants are processed by boiling, drinking, or applying pastes, using plant parts such as leaves, fruit, flowers, seeds, bark, roots and rhizomes, from the results of interviews the most commonly used method is boiling, and the plant part that is often used is the leaf part, the boiling method is considered practical and the leaf part is used because it is easy to obtain and does not damage the plant. Active ingredients in plant parts such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids and other contents have a role in healing diseases. This research emphasizes the importance of preserving traditional knowledge as a source of alternative medicine that has scientific potential and is safe to use.Downloads
